Economic Relief Grants
Updated May 28, 2021
The City Council has assembled more than $.5 million in federal funds to provide direct relief to businesses and residents. Please see below for an update on each program.
COVID-19 Emergency Small Business Grant Program
The City received 157 interest forms for the Small Business Grant Program. City staff has reviewed all of the interest forms submitted before July 6 and will be contacting the first group of business owners this week that met the initial requirements. If any of those businesses do not wish to participate or do not qualify, City staff will move on to the next group of businesses on the waiting list.
Given the limited federal funding, the City is no longer accepting interest forms for this program. If your business needs financial assistance, the County of Los Angeles announced on July 7 the Los Angeles Region COVID-19 Fund that will provide grants to small businesses. For more information visit www.lacovidfund.org.
Funds for the rent assistance grants have been expended and additional interest forms are no long being received. However, the State of California is providing rent relief. Please visit this website (https://housing.ca.gov/covid_rr/) for additional information.
Temple City provided support to renters affected by COVID-19. The funds were used to provide 75 households with temporary rent relief grants.
Income-eligible households in Temple City that had been negatively impacted by COVID-19—including through job loss or reduced hours—received up to $3,000 in rent assistance grants. The funds were disbursed over a three-month period to the landlord or property management company.
