Holiday Decorating Contest Returns With New Twists

Competition recognizes Temple City's best and brightest — homes and businesses, that is

TEMPLE CITY, CA (Dec. 1, 2019)—Forget “less is more.” Temple City’s holiday decorating contest returns this month, giving community members license to indulge in all manner of colorful lights and other accessories for their homes and businesses.

New to this year’s competition are changes to the judging process. Residents, for starters, are no longer required to enter or register for the contest.

Instead, they’ll be judged by a committee of fellow residents who will tour the city and select as many as 20 award-winning properties.

Judges will roam the city’s 70 miles of streets on Dec. 10 and 11, so if you’re interested in being considered for an award, just plan to leave your lights on and decorations intact from 5-9 p.m. both evenings.

Lawn signs designating award winners will be placed in front of properties the week of Dec. 16. A list of award winners will be posted on the City’s website by Dec. 21, with formal recognition by the city council to follow at its Jan. 7 meeting.

For more information, call Jennifer Venters at (626) 285-2171, ext. 4515.
