The holiday season may feel like it’s in full swing already, but it hasn’t truly begun until the lights go on. This year, guests of the annual Lights on Temple City will see the city’s 100-foot redwood tree be illuminated on Friday, Dec. 3, at Temple City Park located at 9701 Las Tunas Dr. from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Festivities for 2021 include performances by the Temple City High School Brighter Side Singers, Temple City High School Band, carolers, arts and crafts zone, food trucks, photo opportunities and community booths. Food trucks will be parked along Golden West Ave., featuring Fluff Ice, Bittie Bitez Mini Donuts and Tacos El Pastorcito. Santa will be available for socially distances photos.
At 7:00pm, the holiday parade begins at the intersection of Las Tunas Dr. and Clovery and makes it way to the park. The trees illuminate along Las Tunas as the parade makes its way to Temple City Park. Participants include your City Council, the Camellia Festival Royal Court and Temple City High School Marching Band. At the conclusion of the parade Santa and the City Council will light the City's tree from the Performing Arts Pavilion.
Las Tunas Drive will be closed to traffic between Cloverly and Golden West avenues from 5-8 p.m. to accommodate the parade, and parking along that stretch will be prohibited between 4-8 p.m.
