Temple City Announces Second Series of Subsidies for Home Security Devices

Rebates and discounts on Ring products available beginning Jan. 31.

TEMPLE CITY, CA (Jan. 29, 2019)—After a successful debut in 2017, the City of Temple City has launched the second round of its partnership with the company Ring to offer subsidies for home security devices.

Known for its popular video doorbells, Ring specializes in home security products that sync with users’ smartphones, tablets or desktop computers. Many of the company’s motion-activated products even allow homeowners to see, hear and speak to visitors remotely from their personal devices.

Beginning Thursday, Jan. 31, Temple City residents who did not receive subsidies for video doorbells in 2017 are eligible to apply for $100 rebates, each of which can be used to purchase one of seven Ring products online at a discounted price (please see below for a full list of products included in the subsidy agreement).

In addition to the $100 rebates, all Temple City residents, including those who participated in the subsidy program in 2017, will receive $30 off additional Ring security devices—at a maximum of two per household—as well as 20 percent off accessories.

The program is the result of a partnership between Ring and the City of Temple City, whose city council recently approved the dedication of $20,000 in city funds to match the initial $20,000 contributed by Ring for a subsidy total of $40,000.

Temple City Mayor William Man said Ring’s video devices have augmented the existing crime prevention efforts of the city’s neighborhood watch program and proven useful to local law enforcement involved in the investigation of property crimes.

“The 400 rebates we offered for Ring video doorbells in 2017 were claimed within four days,” Man added. “The level of interest showed us that Temple Citians are concerned about the safety of their families, their homes and their property. We’re proud to be able to expand upon the success of a program that allows our residents to remain vigilant yet comfortably secure.”

Just as they were in 2017, subsidies are available on a first-come, first-served basis to the first 400 residents who apply for them. Each $100 rebate can be applied to the online purchase of one of the following Ring devices, with the listed price reflecting the application of the rebate:

Video Doorbell 2$99
Video Doorbell Pro$149
Spotlight Cam Solar$129
Spotlight Cam Battery$99
Spotlight Cam Wired$99
Floodlight Cam$149
Ring Alarm Security Kit (five-piece)$99

To apply for a rebate or discount, each resident must first complete an online form at Ring, which is administering the program, will then verify household eligibility and, upon approval, email a promotional code to be redeemed at checkout at

Each promotional code is valid for a single use only and cannot be applied to previously purchased Ring products.
